Blessed are they who hope in the Lord
  • Deuteronomy 30:15-20
  • Psalm 1:1-4,6
  • Luke 9:22-25

In a world where success, status, and recognition define our worth, we are constantly pressured to achieve more, to build a name for ourselves, and to secure comfort. Social expectations shape our decisions, making it difficult to let go of control. Yet, in today’s Gospel, Jesus calls us to something greater – to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow him. Jesus embraced suffering, rejection, and even death, trusting completely in the Father’s plan. As his disciples, are we willing to do the same? Are we prepared to let go of the reputation we have built, to face discomfort, or to sacrifice personal gain to remain faithful to Christ. True discipleship is not about seeking our glory but surrendering to God’s will, even when it costs us everything. The world promises fulfillment through wealth and status, but Jesus reminds us that clinging to these things can lead to losing what matters most: our soul. What good is success if it draws us away from him?

Abba Father, give me the strength to take up my cross and follow you, knowing that true life is found in you alone. Amen.
