Today’s Gospel shows how Jesus was rejected by his own people. When Jesus spoke of God’s mercy reaching beyond them to the Gentiles, it enraged them. This reaction reveals how limited human understanding can be. We often want God’s blessings to remain within our own zones. But Jesus makes it clear that his mission is far greater. He came for the poor, the broken, the marginalised, and all who are in need of love and redemption. His heart reaches beyond boundaries, beyond prejudice, and beyond what we consider fair. It is this very love that defines his mission: a love that does not exclude but embraces; a love that lifts the forgotten and restores dignity to the rejected. Yet the challenge for us remains real: can we accept this kind of love? Can we live it out? Sometimes, like those in Nazareth, we resist what stretches us. But Jesus calls us to something higher: to recognise his presence, to accept his mission, and to become people who reflect his boundless, transforming love.
