The power of the Cross
  • Acts 28:16-20, 30-31
  • Psalm 11:4-5,7
  • John 21:20-25

The Lord asks Peter to follow him. Peter looks behind, sees John, and asks, “What about him?”. “What concern is that of yours? You follow me,” says the Lord. We are called to follow the Lord. He is carrying out a great work in humanity. Let us not look around and compare ourselves to others, questioning who is better or who is falling short. We do not know what each person is going through. Some may be putting on a façade while struggling internally. The Lord is at work: changing and transforming lives through the power of the cross: saving marriages, healing bodies and minds, and redeeming souls. “My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.” Yes, even in each of our lives, the Lord is calling us to follow him, the source of unconditional love. Only through him is true unconditional love possible. When we give our lives to serve others, not our ego, we experience real joy. Love is symbolized not by the heart, but by the cross.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may I live by the liberating power of the cross. Amen.
