There are days when faith feels steady, and days when it feels heavy. We can pray, serve, and care for others, yet still carry a quiet sorrow within us. Sometimes, it even seems as though the world moves on happily while we struggle in silence. Jesus says, “You will grieve, but your grief will become joy.” He does not deny sorrow, nor does he rush us past it. Instead, he assures us that it will not last forever. When things do not unfold as we hope, how do we respond? Do we lose heart when relief does not come quickly, or are we willing to remain faithful in seasons that feel unresolved? Often, what changes first is not our circumstances, but our hearts. Disappointment can soften into trust, and anxiety can slowly become surrender. Joy is not loud excitement; it is the quiet confidence that God is at work, even when we cannot see the outcome. Sorrow is not wasted in God’s hands; it can deepen our faith and teach us patience in ways comfort never could.
PRAYER: Abba Father, help us to trust that the sorrow we carry is being transformed into joy, and give us patience while you work within us. Amen.
