As gold is refined in Fire, the children of God are perfected in trials

Jacob in all his might fought with God and others, yet prevailed, owing to the strength he had. Do we have the same strength when we face life’s barriers and difficulties? Do we simply give in or give up? Do we throw the towel and walk away? Jacob reminds us how he wrestled until he was blessed.

When the going gets tough, and sickness, poverty, death or failure strike us, we are reminded to strive and hold on to God. We need to hear Jesus telling us, “Fear not, I am with you.” Our faith through prayer and perseverance can open doors to blessings beyond our imagination or understanding. The Gospel speaks of an episode where Jesus restores the speech impediment of a man possessed by a demon. The Pharisees have negative remarks on the miracle performed. We may come across similar attitudes from the spiritually blind. Yet Jesus’ concern was not about who opposed him but about the plentiful harvest that needed laborers to gather it.
