Saturday December 18
Remain open to God’s voice.
  • Jeremiah 23:5-8
  • Psalm 72:1-2, 12-13, 18-19
  • Matthew 1:18-25

Today’s Gospel reading speaks of the dream of St. Joseph who had a message from the angel of the Lord. Just like Mother Mary encountered angel Gabriel at the annunciation, St. Joseph too receives a message. This message changes the decision he had taken before, for he had planned to quietly divorce her. St. Joseph being an upright man had a human solution to the problem, yet endowed by the Spirit of God, he had the courage to do the contradicting act of taking Mary as his wife. This decision paved the way for the salvation of humanity. Today, the decisions we take in our flesh can be opposite to the actions we are called to do in the Spirit. Do we hear and obey the leading of the Lord? Are we open enough to accept the will of God as St. Joseph did? St. Joseph’s conviction about the plan of God saved the world from sin. Can our faith convictions bring healing and hope to the world in darkness?

Prayer: Come Lord Jesus, save us in your love. Amen.
