Inner peace
  • Isaiah 26:7-9,12,16-19
  • Psalm 102:13-21
  • Matthew 11:28-30

Amidst any kind of situation, challenge or turmoil, what do we lose first? One might say it is God who becomes the first casualty – sure enough! However at that moment, do we realize, that the absence of God is the root cause of the unrest? Which also means that we have lost our inner peace. How do we get into a time of losing inner peace – by being unaware that God is still in control, still enthroned, in our situations and environments. The prophet Isaiah states that the Almighty establishes peace for us and all that we have accomplished is what God has done for us. If that is so, what about our failures? What was the cause of those? As the Word shows us, not being righteous with God or being wayward in our ways and also by showing ignorance to his will, causes us to be uneasy and burdened. This results in a loss of inner peace. This is why Jesus is the answer to our unrest as he calls us, to cheer us, to refresh us! All that he requires of us is openness to his Spirit.

Prayer: Abba Father, thank you for calling us to rest in you, we wait for times of refreshing so that our lives may bring glory to you. Amen.
