Free yourselves from all offences
  • Ezekiel 18:1-10,13,30-32
  • Psalm 51:12-15,18-19
  • Matthew 19:13-15

Often we play the blame game. We try to find reasons why certain things happen. And so it was in the Old Testament times. If a person was born deformed or fell into bad circumstances, it was attributed to the person’s parents and their sinfulness. But God’s ways are not our ways and neither is His thinking. It is enlightening and encouraging to find such an answer in the Old Testament where the prophet Ezekiel is told that each one is judged according to his or her own life and doings. Parents cannot be blamed for children’s sins and vice versa. Instead we are told – “God will judge you according to your ways. Come back turn away from all the offences you have committed and get a new heart and a new spirit.” The Lord says further – “I do not desire your death but that you be converted and live.” How do we live? We are to respond to our Lord Jesus as little children. He will call us to him, place his hand on our heads and lead us to salvation. Let us pray for the grace to approach the throne of our Lord Jesus’ presence.

Prayer: Abba Father, we seek your blessing and grace to have childlike faith. Amen.
