Sacrificial love
  • Zephaniah 3:14-18
  • Isaiah 12:2-6
  • Luke 1:39-56

Today can be called a celebration of charity. The Blessed Mother is a model of charity and love. The moment she heard the news about Elizabeth she ran into the hill country, not thinking about her own health and well-being. She had sacrificial love for her cousin. In our lives, how much love do we have for others? Often we tend to prioritise our needs and wants over other people. Today we receive the invitation to think differently. The Gospels inspire us to be more Christ-like. As we imitate Christ we will become more other-centered. Many of our mothers are a role model in this. Mothers would prioritise the needs of their children before attending to their needs. No matter what our state in life is, we will also have opportunities to be sacrificial. Let us be inspired by the life examples of our mothers and fathers together will the exemplary witness of Mother Mary, and become true Christians to those around us. Then we will be worthy children of our Blessed Mother and real brothers and sisters to those around us.

Prayer: Abba Father, may we imitate the Blessed Mother and be sacrificial in our love for others. Amen.
