Tuesday July 18
Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Cherish life
  • Exodus 2:1-15
  • Psalm 69:3,14,30-31,33-34
  • Matthew 11:20-24

The first reading speaks about the story of Moses, how his mother’s intention to save her baby was part of God’s plan, to save a nation from the bondage of slavery. Later, as we know Moses was called to liberate the
Israelites from oppression in Egypt. Such is the potential of a human life, therefore every life matters in God’s eyes. There is dignity and value in every person. It is the right of all human beings to live, thus ways that destroy life are crimes displeasing to God. The Gospel proclamation speaks of repentance.

Recalling us to be mindful of all instances where we have not chosen life but have opted for death in our adamant decisions. Moses’ mother, and the Blessed Mother are shining examples of opting to do what is pleasing to God, protecting and preserving life generated in their wombs. Their offspring were instrumental in the plan of salvation. Even in impossible situations they stayed firm. Let us pray for all mothers that they may stand firm while facing difficult choices and do what is pleasing to God.

Prayer: Abba Father, bless all mothers, may they be good and prudent women filled with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
