Tuesday JANUARY 23
Third Week in Ordinary Time
Who am I?
  • 2 Samuel 6:12-15,17-19
  • Psalm 24:7-10
  • Mark 3:31-35

When we reflect on today’s Gospel proclamation, we see that Jesus knew something about himself that most of us do not know about ourselves. He knew that God was his Father. We are all children of God. We have come from the heart of God. Jesus was aware of his true identity. The Blessed Mother totally surrendered to God’s will. Jesus by his statement must have shocked many that day, and even today this statement has created much curiosity and confusion.

Do we know our true identity? Knowing that God is our Father, that he knew us before our parents knew us, before even time began and that he knows and cares for us, will change the way we live. Knowing that God is our Father and Jesus is our brother we will attempt to please God. We know that God is our Father but we need this to be rooted within our hearts. Where do I come from? Who am I? It is the Holy Spirit who can remove the lies and reveal the truth about ourselves.

Abba Father, anoint me with your Spirit to claim the truth of who I am. Amen.
