Jesus – The Bread of Life
  • Acts 7:51--8:1
  • Psalm 31:3-4,6-8,17,21
  • John 6:30-35

We live in a depraved world where many have lost God and are immersed in finding solutions to life’s problems in the wisdom of the world, being misled and influenced by materialism. Some 2000 years ago, even seeing the miracles Jesus performed people still asked for a sign to believe, until he gave his very self. People have forgotten the Cross and search in the wrong places for the gift he won for us. St Stephen saw the heavens opened and the son of God seated at the right hand of the Father, as he was being stoned to death and forgave his perpetrators. How can one do this if not by the power of the Holy Spirit? When we consume the one who allowed himself to be consumed on account of our sins we become like him. “No one in the world as much as they might love another person, can make themselves become food for them. God did so, and does so, for us. Let us renew this amazement. Let us do so as we adore the bread of life, because adoration fills life with amazement.” (Pope Francis)

PRAYER: Abba Father, I believe that only you can satisfy my deepest hunger. Amen.
