A heart of worship
  • Wisdom 6:1-11
  • Psalm 82:3-4,6-7
  • Luke 17:11-19

In today’s Gospel proclamation ten lepers seek healing from Jesus and he heals them. Nine lepers go away as if their lives belonged to them. Only one returns praising God. He throws himself before Jesus and worships him in total surrender. Jesus says, that his faith had saved him and made him whole. This leper is now ready to go on his way to face the world in total surrender to God. The tragedy of our lives is, we tend to forget that our lives belong to God. We forget that we were forgiven, healed and delivered by him. We forget that all we have: knowledge, wealth, position, authority, responsibilities, children and families are his. We forget that he loves us and cares for us and we want to take control of ourselves instead of living a life of surrender to God. All belong to him and he watches us all. All of us have a free will either to live our lives according to our understanding or live a life of worship, in surrender to God, who loves us and cares for us. We are free to choose but we are not free from the consequences of that choice.

Prayer: Abba Father, may we receive your strength and seek your face. Amen.
