Do not be afraid
  • Exodus 17:8-16
  • Psalm 95:1-3, 7-10
  • Acts 16:25-33
  • John 2:1-12

In today’s scriptures, God is telling us: do not be afraid, because fear stops us from moving forward. Often we fear society and our future. But God’s presence is always with us, so we can focus on him no matter what is happening around us. Several years ago when I was working for a reputed company in Colombo, I had made a mistake to a customer’s order. The customer refused to accept the order, and threatened to complain to the management. I was afraid that I would lose my job. After work I went to the Wednesday prayer meeting. While struggling internally, suddenly I felt peace, and this scripture dropped in to my mind: “be still and know that I am God”. After two days that customer came again, forgave me and proceeded with the purchase. Whenever we struggle let us go to God and wait upon him with faith and hope. He will empower us with the Holy Spirit. Let us trust and depend on him. Let us ask our Blessed Mother to intercede for us, so that we can increase our hope in God, especially as we pray for our country today.

Prayer: Abba Father, lead and guide us in your way for we trust in you. Help us to know you more. Amen
