Create in me a pure and contrite heart
  • 1 Kings 10:1-10
  • Psalm 37:5-6,30-31,39-40
  • Mark 7:14-23

In today’s Gospel Proclamation the Lord Jesus teaches us that evil thoughts and desires come from within. We live in an era heavily influenced by social norms and values and thus competition, acceptance, worth and value play key roles in our lives and knowingly or unknowingly we fall into this social trap. Today the Lord is asking us to look deep down in our hearts and repent for the number of times we have lived according to the ways of this world. Let us repent for the times we have failed to live according to our true identity of being a son or a daughter of God. Let us repent for the times our thoughts and our actions have been influenced by society. The word of the Lord assures us that as we repent and claim our true identity and seal it in the name of the Lord Jesus, no evil influence of this world can enter our hearts. It is only when our hearts are pure and holy, that we can host the presence of God and reflect the image of God to the world we live in.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help me to reflect on what is not pure in my life and repent so that I may have a pure heart. Amen.
