The power of the Word
  • Joel 4:12-21
  • Psalm 97:1-2,5-6,11-12
  • Luke 11:27-28

In the first reading we see many promises of God. We are reminded of the goodness of God. “When God is for us, who can go against us” (Rom 8:31). Isn’t this the meaning of the words today? God is gathering His people to the judgment valley to favour them.

God will deliver His people while the wickedness of the surrounding nations will be crushed. God is good; therefore when God brings justice the wickedness of people will be destroyed and the people will be freed. The ‘Word of God’ is true and active.

Nature would be against those who stand against God or His people. Likewise everything in the world will be a channel of support to those who stand firm in the ‘Word of God’. The Gospel reading proved the power of the ‘Word of God’. The Blessed Mother accepted the ‘Word’ even though she could not understand. Her “Yes” could have caused her doom. Yet she believed and experienced the power of God’s ‘Word’.

Prayer: Abba Father, let my home be in your Word. Amen.
