Tuesday January 3
Identity of a beloved son/daughter of our Heavenly Father
  • 1 John 2:29--3:6
  • Psalm 98:1,3-6
  • John 1:29-34

John the Baptist recognized Jesus as ‘the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world’. The true identity and purpose of the life of Jesus was revealed in John’s testimony. At Baptism, we too are lavished with the love of the Father receiving the identity of a son or daughter of God’s family. God is faithful and promises that he will always be with us. Yet, how often do we believe in this truth? When storms come our way, this truth is replaced with lies of loneliness and betrayal. Lies that lead us to separation from God. Jesus reminds us, as he did to John, that he is the Lamb of God. He was slain on the cross to defeat our sin. As we repent of our sinful separation, and return to the fold receiving his body at the Eucharistic Table, we are once again reunited in a love intimacy with him. We carry him in our families and business life. He created us in his likeness because he loves us unconditionally. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will be a constant companion with us leading us to the purpose that he created us for.

Prayer: Abba Father, thank you for calling me your child. Amen.
