Journeying in love with the Lord
  • Numbers 21:4-9
  • Psalm 78:1-38
  • Philippians 2:61-11
  • John 3:13-17

Today’s Gospel proclamation shows us the ultimate love of God. “God so loved the world that he gave his only son” (John 3:16) this is a verse we have heard time and time again and are very familiar with, but do we really understand the depth of this. Is anyone willing to give up their only son? But here God gives us his son so that we may not perish but have eternal life. The salvation of the world came through passion death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because he said yes to the will of the Father he was betrayed, humiliated, scourged and crucified on that cross. As God’s son he had all the miracle working power in him to free himself from that agony. But instead he chose to say yes to the will of the father. It wouldn’t have been easy to watch your son suffer so much. It’s not easy to endure such pain. But the love God has for us is greater than any of these. The Son of man was lifted up on that cross, an image that still brings us closer to God, an image that reminds us of the unconditional love the father has for all of us.

Prayer: Abba Father, help me to love, be closer to you and walk this journey with you and in you. Amen
