Monday April 11
The heart of Jesus is our safe place.
  • Isaiah 42:1-7
  • Psalm 27:1-3, 13-14
  • John 12:1-11

Mary does not hold back her worship, she is seen offering the most costly thing she owns at the feet of the Lord Jesus. A pound of Spikenard; easily worth a year’s wages, but Mary does not hesitate to pour this upon the feet of the Lord Jesus. In 2 Samuel 24:24 King David exclaims “I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing”. Worship is not meant to be easy, it involves sacrifice. It declares that the person being worshiped is worth the cost of the sacrifice and more. The first reading gives us a glimpse at the heart of the Lord Jesus towards us. Our weakness and our inability, do not make him reject us, our brokenness does not scare him. Our faith may be a wavering wick, yet he will not snuff it out. The heart of Jesus is our safe place. Mary has experienced this safe place before in her journey of faith. This Holy Week may we also experience this safe place and like Mary may we also desire to offer extravagant worship to God.

Prayer: Abba Father, I come to you today, you are my light and my salvation. I trust in you! Amen
