Friday December 24
I am the house of God.
  • 2 Samuel 7:1-5,k 8-12, 14, 16
  • Psalm 89:2-5, 27, 29
  • Luke 1:67-79

In the Old Testament, the Ark of the Covenant was moved from place to place in a tent, until it was taken to Jerusalem and had a temple built around it, with guards to protect the ark. This temple, was the House of God. In the New Testament, the temple of God, was sent among us in the person of Jesus. In the First Reading it says, “Your house and Your kingdom shall endure forever”. Jesus has come to reign in us forever. Now the house of God is moving in our midst and is transforming our lives making us His temples. As we prepare for Christmas let us not forget to prepare our hearts for His dwelling. Through the Death and Resurrection of Jesus and through our baptism, we have received an extension of being a temple of the Holy Spirit and the House of God. Let us prepare our hearts and our lives to celebrate the birth of Jesus, with whom we now share our heavenly identities as sons and daughters of God.

Prayer: Come Lord Jesus, remain in us. Amen.
