We are called to prepare the ground for miracles
  • 1 John 5:14-21
  • Psalm 149:1-6,9
  • John 2:1-11

Today’s First Reading gives us guidance on how we could live out the Gospel Proclamation. In the Gospel Proclamation, the Blessed Mother mentions to her Son a need that has risen at the banquet. It seems as though this request is ignored by the Lord Jesus. However, the Blessed Mother continues to act on it by gently putting her faith into action; “Do whatever he tells you”. The First Reading reminds us of our identity, that we are children of God. That means we have access to the store house in heaven, and have been given the authority and power to use it. Therefore we have confidence to approach God. It is with this confidence that the Blessed Mother made a humble request. She used the authority given to her, and prepared the ground for a miracle. We are called to do the same in our lives, in the situations we are placed in. We have been given the same authority to prepare the ground for miracles by declaring our faith in who we are, as sons and daughters of God.

Prayer: Abba Father, give me the grace to walk in my identity as your child. Amen.
