Be still to hear God’s voice
  • Acts 6:1-7
  • Psalm 33:1-2,4-5,18-19
  • John 6:16-21

Today’s Gospel proclamation follows the feeding of the 5000. After this Jesus withdrew to the mountain to be by himself. The disciples remained with the crowd. Towards evening they realized that they had to cross to the other side and got into a boat. When their boat was hit by a storm, they were afraid. They saw Jesus walking on the water towards them and were terrified. But the moment Jesus was allowed to get into the boat they reached their destination. They were at peace. Like the disciples we have experienced God’s intervention in our lives. God does the impossible, he sees our struggle, he loves us and is merciful to us. A miracle has to increase our faith and draw others to God. To reach the ultimate destiny we need Jesus in our boat/in our lives. Without getting lost in human glory, we need to remain in him, open our minds, hearts and spirits and allow Jesus to enter into our lives. Without Jesus we will face misery and failure, so our calling is to pray and hear his voice.

PRAYER: Abba Father, give us the grace to remain in you, to seek you, to hear your voice and to obey your will. Amen.
