Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
God washes away the stain of sin
  • Genesis 3:9-15,20
  • Psalm 98:1-4
  • Ephesians 1:3-6,11-12
  • Luke 1:26-38

The Blessed Mother said to the angel: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word”. This is the highest form of worship that we could offer our Heavenly Father for his graciousness, faithfulness and goodness: our complete surrender. Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We celebrate the day when the Blessed Mother was conceived in the womb of Saint Anne. God created us to be holy and without blemish, but human beings fell into sin and God knew that only his grace could wash away the impurity or taint of sin. God created a woman without original sin (without blemish/untainted) to bear his beloved Son Jesus Christ. The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Mother was an unfathomable and holy act of God. Let us continue to seek his presence and strive to be holy, so that we too may bear witness to the mighty acts of God. May he wash away our sins and make us holy.

Prayer: Abba Father, I accept the Mother of Jesus as my own. Amen.
