Choose the difficult road

Today’s Gospel proclamation invites us to detach from the things that we are attached to. It is alright to use the things of this world, but we need to give priority to God. We may be attached to fame, money, lust or pride and thereby lose the peace and joy of the kingdom of God. We should give first place to the Lord, which brings peace to us and our families. If we look at the world, many are unhappy, darkness seems to be conquering the world. People are desperately chasing after things which give them instant joy. As believers, we need to take the difficult road, as painful as it might be, and follow the Lord’s light which makes us whole. Let us pray using the lyrics of this hymn:
“Give me faith like Daniel in the lion’s den Give me hope like Moses in the wilderness
Give me a heart like David, Lord be my defense
So I can face my giants with confidence.”
Prayer: Abba Father, I choose to follow your light.
