Let us remain as the salt of the earth.
  • James 5:1-6
  • Psalm 48:14-20
  • Mark 9:41-50

We are reminded today that our ultimate purpose in life is to be rewarded with eternal life. But sadly, sin has always presented itself to be attractive and pleasing to our human senses that we stumble and fall into it many a times. We fail to realize that the pleasure that sin offers us is only temporary. The results of sin are always destructive and would finally deprive us from the real joy we are destined for in the Kingdom of God. This is why Jesus invites us today to reject anything and everything that leads us to sin and fix our eyes on the treasures in heaven. But how do we do this? Is this really possible? Jesus has already conquered sin through His death and resurrection. As in our response to the Psalm for today, let us be poor in spirit and call out to Jesus in complete surrender and trust. He is waiting to pour His love into us and fill us with the power of His Holy Spirit so that our fight against the sin and evil of this world would be effortless. Remain in Him and we remain the salt of the earth.

Prayer: Abba Father, fill us with your mighty presence that we may conquer every temptation. Amen.
