Commandments
  • Deuteronomy 4:1,5-9
  • Psalm 147:12-13,15-16,19-20
  • Matthew 5:17-19

When Moses delivered the ten commandments, he invited the Israelites to follow them wholeheartedly so they will inherit the possessions of God. Moses also asked them to bear witness to the word of God and to pass down the knowledge to their sons and daughters. Hidden in these laws and commandments is a beautiful message from God: we have free will to choose. We have laws and regulations to make sure that we have a safe and secure life. For example; imagine a busy road without traffic lights or road safety rules, there would be chaos and accidents, making our journeys unsafe. It is the same with God’s commandments. Evil and temptations will be there. It is easy to get distracted from God’s purpose for our lives. The ten commandments set out the foundation for a safe journey to the promised land filled with prosperity, love and joy. He asks us to obey and follow. God does not ask for gold or silver, all he ever wants is our love.

PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for your unfailing love. Give us the grace to say yes to your will so we may experience the promised land. Amen.
