Seek first the Kingdom of God
  • Ephesians 3:14-21
  • Psalm 33: 1-2,4-5,11-12,18-19
  • Luke 12:49-53

The prosperity gospel sells faster as it caters to the drives of human being’s need to get material comfort and not follow the narrow path of dying to self and living a sacrificial and sacramental life. Are we here to satisfy our bodily desires or to obey God? Often times I am driven internally to please myself and please others more than God. My inner drives try to find gratification in human approval rather than in pleasing God. There are some who preach a different gospel message, which promises earthly riches and a comfortable life. However we know that the Gospel of Jesus leads us to heavenly riches. It invites us to a life of love, sacrifice and forgiveness. As the Lord Jesus says in today’s Gospel proclamation, he has come to set the world on fire with the Holy Spirit. As believers we are called to become partakers of this heavenly mission; sharing the Gospel of Christ, and living a life that is led by the Holy Spirit. As we become authentic disciples our lives will become powerful witnesses.

Prayer: Abba Father, may I bear witness to you and lead others to you. Amen.
