A Glimpse of eternity!
  • 1 Maccabees 6:1-13
  • Psalm 9:2-6, 16 and 19
  • Luke 20:27-40

Today’s Gospel proclamation brings out the mindset of the Sadducees who did not believe in the Concept of the resurrection. When the Sadducees refer to an old law where a man is supposed to marry his brother’s widow to provide a legal heir to the property, our Lord Jesus Christ raises the standards and shows the difference in earthly conditions and the heavenly realm. As we are children of the resurrection and the children of God, we are reminded that marriage and being given in marriage will not persist in the heavenly world. In the new life we will live face to face with God in eternity. Our Lord Jesus Christ has given us ample evidence about the next life. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself, that where I am, there you may be …” John 14:3)Are we prepared enough to enter this new life where we will all be equally children of God and brothers and sisters of each other?

Prayer: Abba Father, enlighten us to know the beauty and reality of the life you have called us to in the future. Amen
