Are we truly Christian?
  • Romans 3:21-30
  • Psalm 130:1-6
  • Luke 11:47-54

Today’s Gospel proclamation shows us how Jesus showed his anger and disapproval. Here he calls out the Chosen people of God as hypocrites. Hypocrisy is an evil that enters our hearts. We seize to be genuine and harbor deceit within our hearts. This is something that is condemned by the Lord. Many of us call ourselves Christians but are there fruits in us to prove it? “You will know them by their fruits” (Luke 7:16) We follow the rituals and traditions, sometimes we go with the flow because we were born into Christian families and have the Christian upbringing on the surface. But there is no love, peace or joy in our hearts. We seem to be miserable Christians with burdens on our shoulders, anger and resentment. Being a follower of Christ means to have a relationship with God. Do we read and meditate on His word? Are we surrendered to His will? Do we love without prejudice? Do we have a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior?

Abba Father, open the eyes of my heart to see you and to walk with you. Amen
