Spiritual disabilities
  • Acts 5:17-26
  • Psalm 34:2-9
  • John 3:16-21

Today’s Gospel speaks about the healing of a dumb and deaf person. It shows that physical ailments could be an indication of a spiritual matter. Even though we read the Gospel miracles and listen to testimonies; in day to day life when a storm hits we become spiritually dumb and deaf, we enter into a state of loneliness. Jesus put his finger into the man’s ears and looked up to heaven with a deep sigh and said “be opened”. In the Old Testament, God said that his own people were blind, deaf and dumb. This is a clear indication for us to activate our faith in our day to day lives. We are called to believe in Jesus in the midst of our crises, have child-like faith and surrender the particular situation into the hands of God. In a nutshell we are called to open our inner eyes and ears with faith. Hence Jesus is calling us to open our senses to see and hear his mighty words and deeds. Can we respond and have an attitude of trust to witness his glory?

PRAYER: Abba Father, open the eyes of my heart, I want to see you. Amen.
