Intimacy with the Lord
  • Acts 4:1-12
  • Psalm 118:1-2,4,22-27
  • John 21:1-14

Jesus invites his disciples to “Come, and have breakfast”. I imagine the Lord calling me to come and sit with him. There is a lot of cooking, feeding and eating in the Holy Bible. These are innately what it means to be human. We need to eat to live. One of the most beautiful signs of God’s love for us is the Holy Eucharist: Jesus becomes our food. We consume him so that he might make us one with himself. In Revelation 3:20 he says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” The Lord desires communion and intimacy with us. He cares about our needs and longs to satisfy us. The secret of discipleship is to have intimacy with the Lord. Let us accept the invitation of the Lord to be fed through the Holy Eucharist, through his living Word and through every moment we spend in his Presence. This is essential and non-negotiable if we are to re-present Jesus to the world around us.

PRAYER: Abba Father, draw me close to you. Amen
