Jesus walked on water so he could get me to the shore
  • Acts 6:1-7
  • Psalm 33:1-2,4-5,18-19
  • John 6:16-21

Today’s Gospel proclamation talks about how Jesus came walking on water. Indeed it was a miracle, but it was a miracle to remind us that Jesus is always with us. When the apostles set out to Capernaum they were all alone. Darkness was setting in. We are often faced with such situations even in our lives. We find ourselves all alone in the midst of darkness battling unknown demons and weathering unknown storms. When such things happen we often tend to give up. The darkness seems greater, the storms seem bigger than our understanding. But there is always someone greater than any of these: Jesus our Lord who is greater than any of our perceptions. When I have gone through such darkness in my life where I thought I was all alone and I had none to help me, the Lord showed me that he was always there. He walked on water so he could get me to the shore, even in the midst of darkness. Are we ready to open our eyes of faith and see our Lord Jesus walking on water for our sake?

Prayer: Abba Father, open the eyes of my heart to see you even in darkness. Amen.
