Good and evil
  • Sirach 51:12-20
  • Psalm 19:8-11
  • Mark 11:27-33

The world is becoming increasingly complex and difficult to comprehend. Sometimes those who are connected to us and the relationships we have are contributing to the complexity. Sometimes it is the struggles of daily life and sometimes it is the society and the ways in which this world operates. On the other hand, how we are made and the freewill given to us as a gift makes it difficult for us to make decisions in day-to-day life. Choosing between good and evil or responding to a question is a matter of internal wisdom. The difference between falling into a worldly trap or not could be a single word that comes out of our mouth. Today’s Gospel proclamation is giving us an opportunity to understand the power of divine wisdom that any- one could depend on, when dealing with choices in such circumstances. The Lord Jesus had the courage and wisdom to avoid falling into the trap that the pharisees were setting up for him. Let us pray that we will be able to discern between good, bad, right and wrong.
