Friday January 6
You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased
  • 1 John 5:5-13
  • Psalm 147:12-15,19-20
  • Mark 1:7-11

Today’s Gospel proclamation illustrates the Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ, which was the first step taken by the Lord Jesus Christ before commencing his public ministry. We see the sinless Son of God humbling himself and being baptized by John at the river Jordan. It was a sign of the Lord Jesus Christ totally submitting himself in obedience to God the Father, who was delighted in him and the Holy Spirit descended like a dove. Jesus remained obedient to the Father even unto death. Everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus is sanctified by his blood, filled with the Holy Spirit and granted eternal life. As believers of the Lord Jesus Christ, through his merits we are adopted as children of God. As such, we are called to live a life of surrender in obedience to the will of God and continue the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is certain that just like the Lord Jesus Christ, we will surely rise victoriously from all the challenges that come our way and give glory to God though our life.

Prayer: Abba Father, let me experience the joy of surrendering to your will. Amen.
