Persistence in prayer
  • Solomon 18:14-16, 19:6-9
  • Psalm 105:2-3, 36-37, 42-43
  • Luke 18:1-8

In today’s Gospel proclamation, I read through these few verses, whichgrabbed my attention about an unjust Judge. There was a widow under his nose, and it irritated him to serve the widow justice. Widows and orphans are among the most vulnerable of God’s people. Both old testament prophets and new testament apostles insist that these needy people should be properly cared for. To persist in prayer and not give up does not mean endless repetition or painfully long prayer sessions. Constant prayer means keeping our requests continually before God as we live for him, believing he will answer in His time. When we live by faith, we are not to give up. God may delay answering, but his delays always have good reasons. As we persist in prayer, we grow in character, faith, and hope. As I write this, I’ve seen and experienced what it is to be a father. I treasure my children, and I will always want the best for them at the right time. Similarily our heavenly Father wants to bless us as we turn to Him in prayer.

Prayer: Abba Father, I pray that all your children become prayer warriors according to your will. Amen
