We are called to be saints!
  • Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14
  • Psalm 24:1-6
  • 1 John 3:1-3
  • Matthew 5:1-12

As we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints, we are reminded of two important things: our identity and our mission. We are invited to reflect on who we are and why we are here on this earth. We might see ourselves in many different lights and even be tempted to be conformed to the definitions the world offers. But as St. John highlights in his first letter, we are beloved children of God, and our inheritance is heaven. The Saints whom we honour today have gone there ahead of us and left a trail behind them for us to follow. In the Gospel proclamation, our Lord Jesus offers us a sure formula to help us in our journey to sainthood. Today, we might be going through many hardships, carrying sorrow and pain within our hearts, struggling with worries and temptations, persecuted and insulted for our faith and have lost heart. Let the example of the holy ones who have walked the life’s journey before us be our guiding light to endure through good and bad times alike. Let us seek their intercession.

Prayer: Abba Father, give us the grace to endure suffering with a heart of praise. Amen.
