Do we keep our talents hidden?
  • 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
  • Psalm 33:12-13,18-21
  • Matthew 25:14-30

Today’s Gospel proclamation narrates to us the parable of the talents. This illustrates God’s approach towards us. Just as the master in the parable entrusted his wealth to His servants, the Lord has blessed us in many ways; our capabilities, talents, knowledge, finances and resources. He expects us to use them to build His Kingdom and glorify His name here on earth. Just like the master in the parable, God is pleased to see His children making use of the gifts and blesses them with more. However, as we see in the parable, the third servant had a wrong perception of his master and instead of making the best use of what was given to him, he buried it in the ground. It is therefore time to reflect and see if we too have neglected to serve God with what we have with us. Do we keep our talents hidden and avoid making sacrifices? If so, let us arise and respond to our Christian calling and serve Him with all we have, for all we have we got from Him and to everyone who uses the talents, more will be given.

Prayer: Abba Father, help me to serve you with all I am and all I have. Amen.
