Faith: the way to please God
  • Hebrews 11:1-7
  • Psalm 145:2-5,10-11
  • Mark 9:2-13

Waiting to pick up my kids from school one day, I noticed a boy running towards a reversing vehicle. The vehicle was not moving fast but I was fearing for the boy’s safety. However, the closer he got to the moving car, the happier he looked and to my relief the car came to a sudden stop. The boy then opened the passenger door and hopped in with a beaming smile. It was then I realised that it was his parent who was driving the car. As dangerous as the scene appeared, the boy saw it differently. He believed in his parent to not harm him in any way. In the same way, no matter how dark the storms that surround us, how deep the miseries that engulf us or how impossible our challenges may seem, we are called to trust in our Father who is in control of it all. We are given a glimpse of Jesus’ glory through the Gospel Proclamation so that we remember him for who he really is and not lose faith in difficult circumstances. Let us trust the Lord completely, he will always protect us.

Prayer: Abba Father, reveal yourself to us each day so that our faith in you may never waver. Amen.
