Surrender to the plan of God
  • Isaiah 7:10-14
  • Psalm 24:1-6
  • Luke 1:26-38

Today’s Gospel proclamation gives the narrative of how the “Word became flesh”. God becoming a man: Emmanuel, God is with us. Since the time of the great patriarchs and prophets this is the moment the whole world has been looking forward to. This is the mystery that we enter into every time we pray the ‘Hail Mary’. Have we looked at this moment with awe when we pray the Rosary? In the first reading we read how through the prophet Isaiah, God revealed the plan of salvation several hundred years before the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. With God nothing happens randomly. He has a perfect plan for our lives, a plan that he designed even before the creation of the world. We need to cooperate with the plan of God as the Blessed Mother did. She said “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me as you have said”. Today let us surrender to God an area in our lives that we controlled, and ask the Blessed Mother for her intersession for us.

Prayer: Abba Father, give us your grace to surrender to your plan. Amen.
