Enter the heart of God
  • James 4:13-17
  • Psalm 49:2-3,6-11
  • Mark 9:38-40

What motivates our actions and influences our decisions? Many of us have some idea of what our lives would look like day to day and even into the future. Some of us may have well planned 3, 5, 10 or even 20 year plans written out. But where does God fit in to our plans? Perhaps we have forgotten to factor our God into our plans? The Psalmist reminds us today, that the truth is, it does not matter whether we are born into wealth or good status. Because we have to loose all the worldly possessions and our worldly identity to seek God. We do not need to strive to secure our future or be perfect but we are called to come as we are, hopeless, sinful, broken, addicted because the Kingdom of Heaven is for us. God has given us the promise: come, blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. The Gospel acclamation declares and seals the promise that the Lord Jesus gives us: we are to enter the heart of God.

PRAYER: Abba Father, we claim the name of Jesus over our lives. Lead us back to yourself. Amen.
