Sharing Divine Nature
  • 2 Peter 1:2-7
  • Psalm 91:1-2,14-16
  • Mark 12:1-12

Today’s parable was addressed to the leaders of the Jewish nation. The vineyard is God’s, having through long history, prepared Israel to be his own. But they rejected him. How about us? Today’s reading shows something unbelievable about Christian hope: to share in the divine nature. God’s call is such a great favor that we cannot understand it. We have been called to nothing less than to share what God is. To this end the Owner of the vineyard sent his only Son to tell us this Good News, and to empower us through his grace. Have we reciprocated? Have I not in my Christian ministry or vocation in life, unknowingly side lined the Lord taking his glory for myself, having no inclination to allow the Lord to transform my life into the divine? For, “Eye has not seen…what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Cor 2:9). The Lord pleads to not reject him. He would empower us to escape the moral decay of the world of covetousness, and become sharers of divine nature (2 Pt 1:4).

PRAYER: Abba Father, may your will be done to me according to your word. Amen.
