Are we in the shadow?
  • Genesis 12:1-9
  • Psalm 33:12-13,18-20,22
  • Matthew 7:1-5

People have many opinions. Social media has enabled people to be judges and jurors. Sadly, Christians and non-Christians cannot even be told apart in their attitude and behaviour in this regard. Yet, be that as it may we are called to not judge, to not condemn, to act impartially, to consider others better than our-selves, to love others as much as ourselves. Do we do all of this? Jesus did, and we are called to be like him. If Jesus was to listen to our conversations, would he be pleased? Would Jesus recognize himself in us? Are we kind and compassionate even when it is challenging? Often, we expect others to extend mercy towards us, as we expect God to be understanding about our shortcomings. Like farmers, we reap what we sow. “Hide me in the shadow of your wings” (Ps 17:8). To live under someone’s shadow we have to do and move as the shadow does. We cannot move outside the shadow as we please. Our behaviour and our attitude must reflect that of Christ.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may I walk in your ways, as you empower me, within your shadow. Amen.
