The gift of spiritual joy is not only a comfort but also a call to live as faithful servants, boldly identifying ourselves as God’s people and sharing his love with others. Let us never shy away from letting others know that we are his. The Gospel reading challenges us to reflect on our role as salt and light in the world. Just as seasoning without flavor has no value, a Christian who fails to positively impact those around them becomes ineffective. We are not called to blend in with the world but to stand out—bringing out the best in others, as seasoning enhances food. Jesus also compares us to a city on a hill, whose light is visible for miles. Our faith should be just as evident, illuminating the way for others. However, we often dim our light through silence when we should speak, conforming to the crowd, denying our faith, allowing sin to take over, failing to place our hope in Christ, or ignoring the needs of others. Instead, we are called to be beacons of truth and love, reflecting Christ’s light.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may the light you have placed within us guide us and shine brightly to illuminate the path for others. Amen.
