In today’s first reading, we see how Jacob, influenced by his mother, Rebekah, deceived his father, Isaac, to receive the blessing that rightfully belonged to his elder brother, Esau. This act was driven by selfish interests and greed for possession. However, later in his life, Jacob himself suffered the consequences of his actions when he was deceived by his uncle, Laban. Even today, humanity continues to struggle with these same sins. We deceive, manipulate, and treat others unfairly for personal and worldly gain. Sin remains a burden we cannot free ourselves from through our own efforts. Jesus clearly teaches that unless we receive his grace, poured out through his death and resurrection, we cannot be truly freed from our sins. In him, transformation is not partial—it is complete. In the Gospel reading, Jesus says that we must become new vessels to be filled with new wine. When we walk with him, he renews us each day, leading us on the journey toward his eternal Kingdom.
PRAYER: Abba Father, we praise you because you are good and merciful to us. Amen.
