Living for Christ
  • Leviticus 25:1, 8-17
  • Psalm 67:2-3,5,7-8
  • Matthew 14:1-12

Sometimes to be a faithful follower of God, we might have to do things that are hard. We might have to sacrifice. St. John did something that cost him his life because he stood up for what was right. This most likely would not happen to us, but living for the Lord may cause us to lose favour with our friends or family if we speak up for what we believe in. Sometimes we may have to sacrifice our time, resources and desires to follow Jesus. But it is worth it. He has a plan and purpose for us and he will continue to work in us and use us if we allow him to. This plan may include some form of sacrifice, but he will be with us. “God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor 10:13) Bad things will happen in this world, but the power of God is greater than the power of evil. Let us seek his strength to be faithful to him no matter what happens.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may my life be a living sacrifice of praise. Amen.
