Courage and Childlike Faith
  • Deuteronomy 31:1-8
  • Deuteronomy 32:3-4,7-9,12
  • Matthew 18:1-5, 10, 12-14

The first reading presents Moses’ final words to Israel before they enter the Promised Land. As he passes leadership to Joshua, Moses reminds the people that God will go before them and never leave them. His charge to “be strong and courageous” emphasizes trust in God’s presence and provision, especially in the face of uncertainty. We are to rely on God’s faithfulness as we navigate challenges, knowing that he equips and strengthens us for the journey. In the Gospel reading, Jesus highlights the value of childlike humility and trust in the kingdom of heaven. He calls us to embrace a child’s openness and dependence on God, rejecting pride and self-reliance. The parable of the lost sheep illustrates God’s relentless pursuit of every individual, showing his deep love for the vulnerable and the wayward. Let us trust God’s presence like the Israelites, while maintaining a childlike faith. God honors both our strength and our surrender, in his love and care for every one.

PRAYER: Abba Father, grant us courage, humility, and faith in your unfailing presence. Amen.
