Faith that moves Mountains
  • Habakkuk 1: 2-3; 2: 2-4
  • Psalm 95: 1-2, 6-9
  • 2 Timothy 1: 6-8, 13-14
  • Luke 17: 5-10

Our faith may seem strong until we encounter a season of waiting. The true extent of our faith is only revealed in the tension between a promise and its fulfilment. The disciples had faith, for they had witnessed many miracles. They had seen the impossible made possible, and these experiences would have increased their faith. We too have seen the Lord’s miracles. When we reach a season of waiting, when we can no longer live by sight, we would have to depend on faith. In the first reading, the Lord assures us that though “the vision is far off…it shall surely come.” What he reveals, he shall most certainly do. To live by faith is to wait in expectation, knowing that the way has already been made, the light has already come and the answer has already been revealed. Faith is a humble acceptance of God’s will, his timing and his way. Faith is the painful breaking of our desires and opinions to make way for God. This is the kind of faith that moves mountains.

PRAYER: Abba Father, purify my faith, that it may stand the test of time. As I wait on you, give me a servant heart. Amen.
