A call to Obedience and Humility
  • Deuteronomy 10:12-22
  • Psalm 147:12-15, 19-20
  • Matthew 17:22-27

Today’s readings speak of God’s profound love and guidance. We are called to fear the Lord, walk in his ways, love him, and serve him with our hearts and minds. This emphasizes the importance of obedience and reverence towards God, who is mighty and just, showing no partiality and accepting no bribes. He defends the fatherless and the widow and loves the foreigner among us. The Responsorial Psalm continues this theme of divine protection and blessings, highlighting how God strengthens our gates, blesses our children, grants peace, and satisfies us with the finest wheat. His word runs swiftly, revealing his statutes and ordinances to his people, a privilege not given to other nations. In the Gospel reading, Jesus teaches about humility and obedience, showing that as children of God, we are free, yet we must also respect earthly authorities. Let us live in love, obedience, and humility, trusting God’s providence and guidance.

PRAYER: Abba Father, strengthen us and help us to serve you with all our hearts and minds. Amen.
