Feast of Saints Philip and James, Apostles
Apostolic Faith
  • 1 Corinthians 15:1-8
  • Psalm 19:2-5
  • John 14:6-14

Let us reflect on Saints Philip and James’ witness to the faith. In the first reading, Paul reminds the Corinthians of the Gospel he preached, which centers on the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Paul’s recounting shows the importance of apostolic testimony in preserving and passing down the truth of Christ’s resurrection, a corner- stone of our faith. In the Gospel reading, Jesus speaks to his disciples, declaring, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The dialogue between Philip and Jesus, reveals the deep relationship between Jesus and the Father, highlighting that Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. The passage challenges us to deepen our understanding of who Jesus is and to trust fully in his revelation of the Father. Both readings invite us to reflect on the foundational truths of our faith and the essential role of the apostles in proclaiming them. We are called to continue this mission with the same zeal and conviction.
PRAYER: Abba Father, deepen my faith and help me witness to your truth. Amen.
