By standing firm you will gain life
  • Malachi 3:19-20
  • Psalm 98:5-9
  • 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12
  • Luke 21:5-19

Today’s readings remind us of the day of judgment. We have accepted Jesus into our lives and said “yes” to his calling. Therefore, we are called to give him first place in our lives and to live in holiness. Following Jesus and serving others with love and mercy is not easy. Challenges and persecutions will inevitably come: sometimes from within, through our weakness and sinfulness, and at other times from outside, through opposition and hostility. Alone, we cannot overcome nor run this race. We need to remain in him, and we also need the support of one another. Through prayer, the sacraments, and meditation on his Word, we can remain united to him. Without these, we can fall prey to the enemy and lose everything. But when we trust and remain in Jesus, we can face obstacles without fear. For Jesus promises to give us words of wisdom that no enemy: whether internal or external; will be able to contradict. And with that assurance comes his promise: “Not a hair on your head will be destroyed.”

PRAYER: Abba Father, we entrust our lives into your loving hands. Lead us and guide us until the end of our lives. Amen.
